Located just 40 minutes north of Toledo and only 35 minutes southwest of Ann Arbor, Evans Street Station is Southeast Michigan’s premier destination restaurant. Tucked just off the southeast corner of Chicago Boulevard and South Evans Street in charming downtown Tecumseh sits the celebrated little jewel of an eatery. Housed in the town’s former fire station, the only clues indicating the building’s previous incarnation are the red exterior paint and the siren that sits prominently on the rooftop. Inside, guests relax in the beautifully renovated interior spaces featuring warm mahogany wood and a stately fieldstone fireplace.

A small-town restaurant with big city sophistication, Evans Street Station is locally owned and operated. Guests visit from far and wide to indulge in Chef Alan Merhar’s seasonal contemporary American fare. His innovative culinary creations feature stunning plate presentations that are nothing short of works of art. Chef Merhar’s philosophy on food is quite simple: he obtains the best ingredients available and lets them shine.

Whenever possible, Evans Street Station acquires almost all of its produce from local growers. We have developed strong partnerships with several farms such as Prochaska Farms in Macon, Ambry Farms in Clinton, Wilson’s Farm in Tipton, Kapnick Orchards in Tecumseh, and others throughout Lenawee County.

One of the restaurant’s main attractions is the exhibition kitchen, where visitors can stop by and get a bird’s eye view of the chefs in action. Evans Street Station is one of just a few restaurants in the entire state of Michigan that cook entirely from scratch. All stocks, pastas, breads, and desserts – everything is made in-house. Guests can definitely taste the difference and it’s a beautiful thing.

Musgrove’s Retreat, the restaurant’s bar named for the founder of Tecumseh, features a wide array of premium liquors and extensive wine offerings. Appropriately so, the menu is the foremost consideration in choosing wines for the list. Wines are chosen to compliment the flavors of the menu offerings, making the dining experience that much more enjoyable. Even the cocktail list changes seasonally, although highlights like the Honey Rouge and Bloody Martini always remain.

Many factors come into play with the magic that makes for a successful restaurant, another being impeccable service. Upon arrival, guests at once feel welcome by the warm and attentive staff. Servers provide gracious, unobtrusive service to our clientele. Our team offers genuine hospitality and is committed to creating memorable dining experiences for all guests. Evans Street Station also periodically hosts enticing special events such as cooking classes, wine and beer dinners, and tasting events.
